I presented on the importance of Hispanic student representation in the classroom and shared valuable tools like Bilingual Picture Books, STEM Tool Boxes, and Discrepant STEM Events. In oder to bridge the gap from classroom to career for our Hispanic population.

MEE by the SEA.pptxA "discrepant STEM project" is a science, technology, engineering, or math project designed to intentionally present an unexpected or surprising outcome, used to spark curiosity and engage my students by confronting their initial assumptions about how something should work; essentially, it's a demonstration that creates a "discrepant event" where the result goes against what students would normally expect, prompting them to investigate further and learn from the surprising outcome.
